KBR asks federal judge to reverse jury verdict, reduce damages or order new trial

The federal judge presiding over the case brought by a set of Oregon soldiers and veterans against defense contractor KBR Inc. should overrule the jury’s verdict against the company, reduce the damages awarded to the soldiers, or order a new trial, the company argued Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile, a group of Oregon veterans who sued KBR sat impassively through the arguments in federal court in Portland.

Lawyers for Houston-based KBR ran through a series of objections to the handling of the case, which resulted in a Portland jury finding the company negligent in November for its actions in Iraq and awarding the 12 soldiers $85 million in damages.
